Last post from Macedonia road trip is about Treskavec monastery near Prilep town. It’s build just under Mount Zlato, surrounded with unusual karst rock formations, 8km north from Prilep. We started from Dabnica village, where it took us almost two hours to reach the top and then next 3 hours to reach Markovi kuli (Marco’s cross) above Prilep.

Flowers everywhere. Take big memory cards, it’s a lot to photograph :)

There’s no shade at all on the road and we desperately needed sunscreen.

It’s possible to sleep in monastery. We came to late to Prilep day before, so unfortunately didn’t have time to reach monastery before dark

Brajčino, Macedonia

Small village on Prespansko jezero, starting point for treks to Mt. Pelister, highest mountain in Pelister national park. Nothing much to do, but that’s main point visiting Brajčino. One can wonder around village all day, explore surroundings, talk to people and farmers, drink coffe and rakija (home made pear, apple or grape whisky) in the mornings and debate about politics …

Trpejca, Macedonia

Trpejca is small quiet fishing village on Ohrid lake worth to visit. I like laid back mood and life going very slooooow.

Along the Beach are numerous abandoned houses, trailers and ruins

Hugh Hefner lived here before moving to Playboy mansion

Trpejca birds view

On the other side of the lake in Kalista village I tried eel, but taste was … greasy …

… its better to stick with Tavče gravče and čevapčiči :)
