For last day in Cortina we chose Tofana. 2 hours from Dibona hut(2083m) to the peak in the early morning cold. 3 hours later on the way back lower part of the path, below Rif. Giussani (2580m), was hot like hell without any breeze … and there was some 100-120 people climbing up!#$% … ferragosta is starting

Monte Cristallo 3221m, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy

5 hours ascent from Cimabanche pass on northern side. We lost one hour due to bad signs and went to another peak behind Cristallo. There was very crowded upper Dibona via ferrata part, because people took lift to Rifugio Lorenzi (2918m) from south side and climb downhill.

There’s a lot of empty cans, barbed wire and metal parts from first world war, bacause front line was on mountains around Cortina

There was a lot of biting knees and quarrying on scree slopes

Averau 2649 m, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy

After Livigno we went to Cortina. I was first time there and absolutely not the last time. First day we had turist walk trough city center and in the afternoon a warm up tour from Falzarego pass (2105m) to Averau (2649m).

Val Trela – lago di San Giacomo di Fraele – val Alpisella, Livigno, Italy

Last day of biking in Livigno. Great tour over Trela pass that was specially built for bikers for the 2005 World Championships. One metre wide and level, with a few steep climbs before the summit of the path offers a perfect ride. Especially the descent to the refreshment stop at Malga Trela is a pure delight. After a further descent through the rocky Val Pettini one will roll along beside Lago Fraele before cycling back along the gravel road over the Alpisella pass. All together around 1200m ascent with beautiful views. Very reccomended.

Lovely tour to Val da li Mina and further to Somp Eira above Livigno and really nice descent to Livigno lake trough forest path behind Monte Crapena. All together around 1000m ascent with beautiful views to Livigno and side valleys.

They are promoting Piz Orsera with ‘touching the 3000′. Nice walk to check comfort and robustness of my new mountain shoes

Val Federia – Carosello, Livigno, Italy

Around 670km from Kranj (via Verona and Stelvio pass) and we are in Livigno – mountain biking paradise. Cheap gasoline (0,941€), cheap boose (duty free zone), fresh air (Livigno lies on altitude 1800m) and mountain roads to die for.

Razor

Razor is relatively easy accesible peak in the heart of Slovenian Julian alps. We approached it from Vrata valley trough very steep Sovatna valley, slept at Pogačnikov dom and early next morning reached peak of Mt. Razor and also nearby Planja peak. Razor isn’t as popular as Triglav and you can enjoy solitude and peacefulness. There are many capricorns around and theirs climbing skills are interesting to watch.

Kitzbühel biking

Last weekend we spent 4 days biking around Kitzbühel. We had great weather, great campsite on Schwarzsee with pool, saunas, tenis, mini golf. Mountain roads around Kitzbühel are very steep, but lazy one can use lifts. Mountain huts are open and everywhere it’s possible to get good food and cold beer.
