The Tazaungdaing Festival known as the Festival of Lights is held on the full moon day of Tazaungmon, the eighth month of the Burmese calendar. It’s a national holiday in Myanmar and marks the end of the rainy season.
In Taunggyi, Shan State, hot air balloons lit with candles are released to celebrate the full moon day.
In Yangoon they close streets for traffic, distribute slips with numbers and then on certain stand one gets the goods.
