In the first century BC, it became a haven for pirates due to its sheltered position. The city of Olympos was used as a base by the pirate leader Zeniketes, who threatened the people of the Mediterranean for a long time, and the city began to be called &#8220;the city of the pirates&#8221;. This situation persisted until 78 BC when the renowned Roman commander Servilius Isauricus captured the city and transformed it into a Roman city.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
