I’m not a big fan of stone ruins, but if they are already there…

The remains of the ancient city of Olympos are scattered across both sides of the river that flows through this beautiful valley.

Pirates’ Olympos was founded in the third century BC and was a strong settlement both economically and in terms of population density. In the first century BC, it became a haven for pirates due to its sheltered position. The city of Olympos was used as a base by the pirate leader Zeniketes, who threatened the people of the Mediterranean for a long time, and the city began to be called “the city of the pirates”. This situation persisted until 78 BC when the renowned Roman commander Servilius Isauricus captured the city and transformed it into a Roman city.

Olympos is not only a significant archaeological site but also a natural conservation area and serves as a natural spawning area for Carettas.
